Pi Network Price Forecast as Major KYC and Mainnet Updates Unblock Nearly 1 Million Users
Pi Network (PI) price is up by 1.75% today, September 18, to trade at $0.084 at the time of writing. These gains come after the network completed major Know Your Customer (KYC) and mainnet updates.
Through these upgrades, Pi Network managed to unlock access for nearly one million users who were previously unable to progress.
Pi Network’s Mainnet and KYC Updates Go Live
In a recent blog post, Pi Network announced it had resolved two issues: duplicate KYC accounts and migration for users with fast-track wallets.
The network noted that it had improved the process used to identify possible duplicate KYC accounts after some accounts were falsely flagged for possible duplication. Now, more than 417,00 users will be able to continue with the KYC process.
The network also said 497,000 users who received their mainnet wallet using the Fast-Track process and could not access their migration balance will be able to do so after a mainnet migration improvement.
The two updates come days after Pi Network completed the v27 upgrade that marked the final planned upgrade on the blockchain.
Pi Coin’s Open Interest Jumps to a 2-Month High
Data from Coinalyze shows that the open interest for Pi Network price has increased from $23.77 million on September 16 to $36.49 million at the time of writing, per Coinalyze data.
PI’s OI reading is now at its highest point since July 2026, suggesting that the speculative demand for Pi Coin is high.
The funding rate that has been negative for three straight days suggests that the rise in OI is coming from an increase in the number of short positions as futures traders bet that the price of Pi Network will drop.
Still, this high number of short positions creates the risk that a short squeeze will occur, where short sellers might be forced to close their positions through buying, which will consequently push the price higher.
Pi Network Price Remains Below All Key EMAs
Pi Network price remains below the support at the 20-day and the 50-day EMA. The coin is now trading below all the crucial EMAs, suggesting that the long-term Pi Network price outlook remains bearish.
Still, today’s 1.7% gain has pushed the price of Pi Network to the resistance at the 38.2% Fib of $0.085. If the price moves above this resistance, PI could resume an uptrend towards the psychological resistance at $0.10.
However, the RSI reading of 38 suggests that the momentum is still favoring bears, and the uptrend might weaken at the 38.2% Fib.
If Pi Network fails to close above this resistance, the price might drop to the 23.6% Fib of $0.079.
