 Exclusive | Trump Regulators Seek to Discourage Loans to Undocumented Immigrants

The Trump administration is continuing its push to limit undocumented immigrants’ access to the U.S. banking system, urging banks to consider loans to them as potentially risky.

Earlier this year, officials began discussing ways to use the banking system to boost the president’s mass deportation campaign, The Wall Street Journal first reported. Those discussions led to an executive order in May directing financial regulators to use a range of existing rules to achieve the administration’s goals.
