Dow books record closing high as U.S. stocks end sharply higher
U.S. stocks finished sharply higher on Monday as signs of easing U.S.-Iran tensions pushed oil prices lower, reducing concerns about renewed inflation pressures. Falling Treasury yields added another tailwind, particularly for technology and other growth stocks.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 693.38 points or 1.3% to close at 53,178.41, a record high. It was the index’s 22nd record close of the year.
The S&P 500 went up 110.78 points or 1.5% to end at 7,600.50
The Nasdaq Composite added 540.04 points or 2.1% to finish at 25,913.90. The index was up 1,470.95 points or 6.02% over the last three trading days, logging its largest three day percentage gain since May 14, 2025.
All three indexes logged their third straight day of gains.
